School and Kindergarten
The history of our school uniforms
School uniforms are worn in many countries of the world today to make any social differences between the children less visible. In rural Cambodia, where all people are practically equally poor, they serve other purposes. Here you can find out what they are.
Our school and kindergarten children present themselves colorfully on the photos from the campus. The color palette ranges from the rather muted beige of the home uniforms to the pink and light blue of the younger children to the strong blue and green tones of the older children. The photos we produce are beautiful.

However, the reason why we have equipped our children with these uniforms does not really fit into the picture. Because it’s all about hygiene and that the children have something suitable to wear. The families are so poor that they can hardly buy several sets of clothes for their children. And washing the clothes is also rather difficult. Because instead of using washing machines, we continue to wash by hand here – if there is enough water.
Two uniforms per child
Each child has a home uniform and a school uniform. They wear the home uniforms when they come to school in the morning. Before class, they change into their school uniform. The home uniform is then washed in our laundry so that the children can put it back on in the evening. And so that we don’t misunderstand each other: Even daily washing is not a luxury. Many of the children only wear these uniforms because there is simply no money for underwear.
The school uniforms were designed, produced and sponsored by the company “namuk”. They are very durable and if something needs to be mended, we can do it in our own sewing workshop.
