Big for small patients
Medical and health care in Kampong Chhnang province is totally inadequate. There is no state or private offer that meets the need. With the “Smiling Gecko Medical and Dental Clinic” on campus, we have therefore established a way to improve this situation.
The “Medical and Dental Clinic”, run by a local doctor, is equipped with medical and dental treatment rooms as well as basic pharmacy equipment. The health center is located on the school premises and so it is mainly our school children who are treated here. In the medium term, our goal is to be able to professionally care for the families of our employees and needy people in the area in addition to the children.

In addition to the doctor, who is present daily, we have qualified nurses and a male nurse from Cambodia who take care of the mostly small patients. They provide first aid and treat minor illnesses. If necessary, they also make house calls and accompany the sick in emergencies to distant hospitals.
In addition, we carry out semi-annual check-ups, vaccinations and even hearing and vision tests. For these examinations we work together with several regional hospitals, doctors, pediatricians and dentists as well as the Cambodian child protection authorities.
MODERN TREATMENT CHAIRS AT ZURICH UNIVERSITY
We also receive further regular support in medical and dental care from Swiss doctors and dentists. The latter come to us from the Center for Dentistry at the University of Zurich (UZH). Our modern dental chairs also come from UZH. A great donation that we are very happy about.
AND THE CLINIC DOES EVEN MORE
The tasks of the clinic also include health training courses for teachers, hygiene controls in our kitchens as well as keeping health records and accident statistics. Just everything that is not otherwise available here, but makes sense for the rural community
