From 27th to 30th October 2022 we will have a stand at «Kunst 22 Zürich» in Hall 550 in Oerlikon. We are exhibiting pictures taken by our founder Hannes Schmid of the garbage collectors in Sihanoukville.
A reason to be happy on the Smiling Gecko Campus: Four of our carpenter apprentices have completed their training and are therefore well prepared for a life with prospects in Cambodia. Here we present the four.
On August 25th, Hannes will give a lecture about the Smiling Gecko project as part of the exhibition “Mythos and Ethos” in the Capitol cinema in Olten. This is sure to be exciting.
In September, Mariya Un Noun is in Switzerland to collect donations for the Smiling Gecko Campus with her great “New Khmer Cuisine”. Be there!
We received bad news from Cambodia. In the early evening hours of June 30, the Smiling Gecko Campus was hit by a severe storm that lasted several hours, which unfortunately caused major damage to buildings and greenhouses, the Farmhouse Resort and the fields.
Last Wednesday, we surprised our kindergarten and primary school children with lots of fantastic books. The books were donated by the students of Lakeside School Horgen.
Yesterday on Swiss television and already available on our website: the program “mitenand”, with a four-minute portrait of our Cambodian carpenter Pha, who received his training on our campus. Thank you, dear SRF, for being with us in Cambodia. The report turned out great.
The children of our school have recorded a new song. “Heal the World”, the ballad by Michael Jackson, which fits into these crazy times like no other song. Here is the video for it.
